I was brought up a little short by Bill’s piece this morning in which he argues that January 6th worked. It was a success.
The man who attempted the coup has been re-elected by a plurality of his fellow Americans.
He promises to pardon the criminals who have been convicted of January 6th crimes.
His new vice president is on record as saying that the old vice president should have gone along with the coup.
And the entirety of the Republican party is now—just objectively—pro-insurrection.
Politics is all about incentives and American voters have unambiguously incentivized attempted coups. open.substack.com/pub/thebu…
